Mechanical Designer – HVAC / Plumbing (MEP)
Our clients engineering & design team is growing and seeking to add a Mechanical Designer to support the development of commercial and institutional building projects. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams on the design and coordination of complex mechanical and plumbing systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong Revit capabilities, experience producing construction documents, and a solid understanding of HVAC and piping system layouts within building environments.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop mechanical and plumbing system layouts for building projects utilizing Revit.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and coordinated design documentation.
- Design and draft systems including:
- HVAC ductwork
- Hydronic and process piping
- Domestic water systems
- Sanitary and vent piping
- Medical gas systems
- Steam and natural gas distribution
- Water heating systems
- Coordinate closely with engineering staff and other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Assist in evaluating design approaches for functionality, constructability, maintainability, and code compliance.
- Participate in field surveys, existing conditions investigations, and project site visits.
- Support system routing, equipment selection, and sizing calculations.
- Contribute to project submissions and documentation throughout various design phases.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical system design for buildings.
- Experience with healthcare or mission critical environments is a plus.
- FE/EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure desired.
- Strong proficiency with:
- Revit
- AutoCAD MEP
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Trane Trace 3D Plus
- Trane Select Assist
