Overview
Help power the grid and shape the future of electricity markets! As MISO’s Engineer II on our Markets Research and Development team, you’ll help improve how electricity markets operate and how the power grid runs, supporting reliable energy for millions of people. You'll also partner with experts across the organization to study operational events, evaluate ideas to improve market operations and efficiency, develop tools, and generate simulation results that support data‑driven decision making.
Your work will directly influence how electricity markets evolve and adapt to transformative changes ongoing in the electricity industry.
- Apply power engineering and operations research skills to explore innovative options and recommend solutions.
- Gather and examine complex datasets to understand how markets and grid operations are performance.
- Build and maintain models and simulation tools to simulate and test electricity market solutions.
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to tackle challenges and strategically improve the electricity markets.
- Develop and refine algorithms that help make market and grid operations more efficient and reliable.
- Clearly document and present findings through reports, charts, and presentations to communicate insights effectively and accurately.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering technology, electrical and computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, or electronics and computer engineering technology, power systems, operations research, or a related technical field and at least 2 years of experience.
- Master’s Degree or PhD preferred.
- One to two years within any of the following: electricity market design, operations, or research and development; electricity market analysis; or system planning and development in an academic and/or professional setting.
- Preferred experience that includes quantitative analysis, applying or developing optimization algorithms, and power system modeling and simulation.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
BenefitsThe base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $96,000 - $113,000 USD annually
. Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met. At MISO we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including 401k, vacation, sick and safe time, available on your first day of employment.
