Overview
Join MISO as a Principal Power Systems Engineer (EMS) and power the decisions that keep the lights on for millions. As a Principal Power Systems Engineer (EMS) you will be part of a highly skilled team at the core of MISO’s mission supporting the control rooms by leading critical modernization projects. You will help MISO maintain reliability by advancing and advising key initiatives in the market and reliability portfolio for a rapidly changing future while mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities- Lead critical modernization projects for the control rooms, including Energy Management System roadmaps, control room visualization, synchro phasor strategy, and simulation capabilities for training.
- Connect key industry changes to the relevant processes at MISO and develop creative solutions to propel MISO operations into the future.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology.
- At least 8 years of utility, transmission operations, real‑time operations, or related experience.
- Proficiency in C++, Python, or other production‑grade programming languages.
Base salary compensation range: $149,000 – $174,000 USD annually. Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met. MISO offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 401k, vacation, sick and safe time, available on your first day of employment.
