Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - Carmel, IN
Reporting to the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Leader – Finishing, the Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting the global finishing strategy through the execution of investments and operational improvement projects throughout the organization. This position will require strong cross‑functional collaboration with New Product Development, Product Management, Sourcing, Supplier Development Engineering, Suppliers, as well as Fabrication and Assembly Process Leaders at the plants.
The position will be part of a network of engineers that collectively drive process standardization and best in class performance through the implementation of standard work and best practices, leveraged in different areas such as automation, new product manufacturability and new manufacturing technologies.
What You Will Do:- Use Lean Six Sigma and High Velocity Manufacturing methodologies to identify opportunities and drive improvement across the organization.
- Ensure the use of solid, data‑driven methodologies (such as FMEA, Risk Analysis, DOE, etc.) to design robust processes and to troubleshoot quality issues.
- Identify Enterprise‑wide and Regional strategic needs and lead teams to implement change within the Region and across Business Units.
- Assist Residential and Commercial Marketing organizations in the identification and development of new and improved finishes. From Marketing concepts, identify technologies and methods to meet cost and manufacturing targets.
- Assist Supplier Development and Quality organizations in identifying and resolving issues related to internal or external finishing operations. Identify strategic and systemic issues and develop plans for improvement.
- Assist individual Business Units with capital projects related to finishing processes, ensuring the implementation of good project management skills and sound engineering principles.
- Lead projects and implement core / non‑core process assessments.
- Acts as a champion of Total Productive Maintenance across machinery, tools and facilities.
- Supports large capital investment initiatives within operations, including the identification, evaluation, and business case justification of new technologies.
- Assists with new product introductions to ensure adequate levels of manufacturability.
- Supports mergers and acquisitions integration into the Allegion landscape.
- Collaborates with Procurement to implement make‑vs‑buy processes, assessments, and/or playbooks.
- Partners with manufacturing facilities to enable them to run more efficiently.
- BS / ME degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Other degrees considered with extended experience in various Finishing operations.
- At least 5 years’ experience in manufacturing finishing operations, preferably with multiple technologies (i.e. Electroplating, Powder coating, E‑coating, Anodizing, etc.).
- Training in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and globally.
- Understanding of various finishing processes used in industrial manufacturing.
- Ability to lead / manage capital equipment projects from design to implementation.
- Understanding of manufacturing engineering processes and trends.
- Capability to manage multiple projects.
