Company Overview
A leading manufacturer in the automotive sector is seeking a skilled Engineer to join its Production Engineering team. This position plays a critical role in improving manufacturing efficiency, supporting production operations, and driving process optimization.
Position Summary
The Engineer will provide technical support and leadership for production processes, including developing and costing machines, equipment, tooling, and materials. This role focuses on continuous improvement of production systems through engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, source, and evaluate tooling, machinery, and equipment for optimal production methods.
- Define specifications for fixtures and equipment.
- Obtain vendor quotations and perform cost comparisons for equipment and tooling.
- Calculate labor hours and production activity requirements.
- Provide engineering expertise on tooling, prints, specifications, machine maintenance, raw materials, and vended products.
- Recommend improvements to methods, materials, and layouts based on cost, quality, and manufacturing needs.
- Facilitate communication and coordination with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Complete special assignments and engineering projects as requested.
Required:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong computer and mathematical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with accuracy.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Proficiency in vendor negotiation and cost analysis.
- Solid understanding of production, engineering, design, safety, and quality assurance principles.
- Technical knowledge in manufacturing engineering, production processes, quality assurance, and cost estimation.
- Basic understanding of air, electric, and hydraulic circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret sequence circuits.
- Experience in fixture and mold (die) development, including specification definition and vendor coordination.
- Robot programming skills; experience with 3-axis robots preferred.
- Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or working in a multicultural environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
