Our client is a well-established and growing MEP consulting engineering firm seeking to add a Mechanical Designer to its engineering team. This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside experienced Professional Engineers on the design of challenging commercial, healthcare, institutional, laboratory, and mission critical building projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing HVAC systems, plumbing systems, or both, along with strong Revit skills and the ability to produce coordinated construction documents for technically complex facilities. What You’ll Do- Design and develop mechanical building systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, laboratory, and mission critical facilities.
- Create detailed mechanical and plumbing system layouts utilizing Revit & AutoCAD.
- Prepare construction documents, engineering drawings, and coordinated design packages.
- Design and coordinate systems including:
- HVAC ductwork
- Hydronic piping systems
- Process piping
- Domestic cold and hot water systems
- Sanitary, waste, and vent piping
- Medical gas systems
- Steam and condensate systems
- Natural gas distribution
- Water heating systems
- Perform HVAC load calculations and assist with equipment selection, duct sizing, and piping layouts.
- Support system routing, equipment placement, and coordination with structural, architectural, and electrical disciplines.
- Participate in BIM coordination and assist with clash detection using Revit.
- Evaluate designs for constructability, maintainability, energy efficiency, and code compliance.
- Participate in field investigations, existing conditions surveys, and construction site visits.
- Assist with project submissions through schematic design, design development, and construction document phases.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for commercial buildings within an MEP consulting engineering environment.
- Experience with healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical, higher education, institutional, or mission critical facilities is highly desirable.
- FE/EIT certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus.
