Job Summary
As our Principal Electrical Power Market Engineer, you will help MISO carry out an efficient and fair Financial Transmission Rights Market to deliver on our vision of being the most reliable, value‑creating Regional Transmission Operator (RTO).
You will collaborate with many MISO teams—including modeling, planning, outage coordination, credit, settlements, and operations—to administer an energy market that enables load‑serving entities to hedge against transmission congestion in the Day‑Ahead Energy and Operating Reserves Market.
You will work on projects ranging from process automation to implementing groundbreaking changes that keep the Financial Transmission Rights Market valuable as renewable energy integrates into the grid.

- you carry out existing processes such as validating and analyzing models to independently conduct a Financial Transmission Rights monthly auction
- you collaborate with others to implement process improvements and transformative changes
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 8 years related work experience
- 12 years related energy industry work experience
- 4 years related Financial Transmission Rights market, Day‑Ahead Energy market, or Real‑time energy market experience in design, operations, administration, or trading
- 4 years real‑time or market operations experience as an operator
- Power flow analysis and congestion forecasting experience
- Programming, automation, and data analytics experience
- NERC certification
The base salary range for this role is $–$ USD annually. Base salary is based on state/local pay transparency legislation. Salaries may vary based on location, competencies, education, professional certifications, qualifications, and experience.
Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met. We offer a comprehensive benefits package—including 401(k), vacation, sick and safe time, available on your first day of employment.
