This opportunity entails being responsible for daily inspection efforts on multiple complex, large, and /or diverse projects while managing a team of inspectors. Work will primarily be focused on private development projects in central Indiana. Prepares daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractor and may review periodical pay estimates with contractor for accuracy. This position is a lead role to direct, mentor and train junior staff.
WhatYou'll Do
- Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
- Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
- Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.
- Reviews Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
- Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches
- Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 9 years of construction-related experience
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
- Identifies and resolves complex change conditions.
- Mentors staff and coordinates schedules.
- Identifies and resolves complex field issues with the contractor.
- Experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater installation or inspection.
- Experience leading a team or crew.
