AboutThe Role
The MDS Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the comprehensive assessment and care planning process for residents. This position involves assisting in the collection, organization, and entry of clinical and functional data to ensure accurate Minimum Data Set (MDS) documentation. The assistant works closely with nursing staff, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to gather necessary information that informs residents of care plans and regulatory compliance.
By maintaining meticulous records and facilitating communication among care team members, the MDS Assistant helps enhance the quality of care and resident outcomes. Ultimately, this role contributes to the facility's ability to meet state and federal guidelines while promoting a resident-centered approach to healthcare delivery.
- Assist in the collection and verification of resident data required for MDS assessments.
- Collaborate with nursing and therapy staff to ensure timely and accurate documentation.
- Enter and update resident information in electronic health record systems with precision.
- Support the MDS Coordinator in preparing reports and submitting data to regulatory bodies.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana.
- Basic knowledge of healthcare terminology and clinical documentation.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic health records.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with MDS assessment processes and regulatory requirements.
- Completion of relevant healthcare or administrative training programs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
- Basic understanding of resident care planning and quality improvement initiatives.
