Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift role requiring surgical and urology experience and Cerner charting proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 31-bed Med/Surg unit with a focus on general surgery, urology, gynecology, and bariatric surgery

• Primary patient population includes post-operative surgical, urology, gynecology, and bariatric cases

• Expected patient ratio is 1:6

• Care for patients with bariatric surgery, thyroidectomy, bowel obstruction, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)

• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30

• Floating required within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed

• Uses Cerner EMR; experience required

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

• Team-based unit providing care for a variety of surgical patients

• RTO (requested time off) up to 5 days will be auto-approved

• Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated from IU Health for at least 12 months prior to travel consideration

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand required at time of consideration

• Current BLS certification accepted by AHA or RQI

• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required

• Experience with voiding trials and/or urogyn surgeries preferred

• Must have recent experience with bariatric surgery, thyroidectomy, bowel obstruction, and continuous bladder irrigation cases

• Graduate from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

• Cerner EMR charting experience required

• Not accepting local candidates for Med/Surg positions
