Registered Nurse (RN) Opportunity at IU Health North Hospital
This position functions within the Adult Med/Surg 5B Medical unit at IU Health North Hospital. Our patient population consists of a wide range of patients to include post stroke, MI, hemodialysis, geriatric patients to name a few. This is a great unit to build foundation skills, time management, delegation, and critical thinking skills.
Shifts:
Full-time or part-time DAY shift available
Nursing Skills gained on this unit:
- Physical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Insertion of foley catheters, NG tubes, peripheral IVs
- Phlebotomy
- Management of various drips including TPN, heparin, PCA pumps, and end of life drips such as morphine
- Management and care of central lines including PICCs, tunneled lines, and ports
- Improved communication skills with providers, PCAs and others on the care team
- Opportunity to be a unit preceptor, charge nurse, or capstone preceptor
- Multiple opportunities to get involved in unit improvements and be the expert voice on unit changes

- Multiple nursing Daisy Award Nominees each quarter with 2 winners in 2023
- Excellent quality outcomes including no Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) since 2018 and no Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSIs) since 2022

Qualifications:
Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN);
Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions:
Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
