Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position requiring an IN or compact RN license and a minimum of 3 years of endoscopy experience.

Details
  • Work in the Endoscopy unit of a short-term acute care hospital with 153 staffed beds
  • Unit performs Upper & Lower GI procedures, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, and Pain Management procedures
  • High-volume unit serving both pediatric (0 months-18 years) and adult patients, with pediatric cases scheduled Monday-Thursday
  • 1:1 patient care ratio for pre/post and intraprocedural phases
  • Day shift schedule (4x10 hours), 6:30 AM-5:00 PM
  • Block scheduling available with 4 consecutive days of choice (Mon-Fri or Mon-Wed and Fri)
  • On-call required: one Monday-Thursday shift (5:00 PM-5:30 AM) per week and one weekend (Friday 5:00 PM-Monday 5:30 AM) every 6 weeks
  • No weekend shift requirement outside of on-call rotation
  • Floating required to PACU as needed within scope
  • Cerner charting system required;
    Provation experience preferred
Requirements
  • Active RN license (IN state or compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Minimum 3 years of endoscopy experience required
  • Pediatric, Cerner, and Bronchoscopy experience required within the last 2 years
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation
  • Experience with specimen handling/labeling
  • Proficient in obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with medication administration including opioid analgesics
  • Skilled in recovering patients from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care
  • Experience with equipment including balloon dilators, bronchoscopy cart, electrosurgical units, ERBE, forceps, foreign body equipment, and polyp snares
  • Proficient in procedures including Bronchoscopy, Colonoscopy, EGD, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, and esophageal varices/banding
  • RN's nursing school must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • Two supervisor references required
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in pre-procedure, intraprocedural, and post-procedure phases for GI/Endoscopy cases
  • Perform both scrub and circulate roles as needed
  • Care for a mixed pediatric and adult patient population, with pediatric caseload concentrated Monday-Thursday
  • Tuesdays are typically lighter volume days
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are not accepted for this position
  • Local candidates are not accepted
  • Floating required to hospital units or nearby affiliate facilities as needed
  • Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
