Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Endoscopy RN with 3+ years GI experience and pediatric, bronchoscopy, and Cerner competency for a hospital endoscopy unit.

Details
  • Endoscopy unit in a short-term acute care hospital setting
  • Handles Upper & Lower GI, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, ERCP, EUS, and Pain Management procedures
  • High volume of both pediatric (0 months-18 years) and adult patients, with pediatric cases scheduled Monday-Thursday
  • 1:1 patient ratios providing pre/post and intraprocedural care
  • Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (6:30-17:00)
  • Block scheduling available for 4 consecutive days (Mon-Fri or Mon-Wed and Fri), subject to discussion
  • No weekend shift requirement
  • On-call required: one Monday-Thursday shift ) weekly and one weekend (Friday 1700-Monday 0530) every 6 weeks
  • Floating to PACU required as needed based on facility needs
  • Uses Cerner charting system;
    Provation experience preferred
Requirements
  • Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start
  • Minimum 3 years of Endoscopy experience required
  • Pediatric, Bronchoscopy, and Cerner experience required within the last 2 years
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Experience administering and monitoring conscious sedation
  • Experience with EGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, esophageal varices and banding procedures required; EBUS, EUS, and ERCP experience preferred
  • Skilled in specimen handling/labeling, IV starts, 12-lead EKG/ECG, and medication administration including opioid analgesics
  • Ability to recover patients from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • Nursing degree from a school accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
Additional Information
  • Must be willing and able to scrub/tech on the unit as needed
  • Tuesdays are typically lighter days with 1:1 care provided
  • Scrubs provided; free parking available
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are not accepted for this position
  • Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
  • Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required for all travelers
