You will support agency business owners who act as independent contractors, helping them implement the district's profit and growth plan. The role focuses on recruiting agency owners to become captive agents and driving performance results for independent contractors. You will report to the Indiana State Director and be asked to reside within the district (Lebanon or surrounding cities such as Carmel, Noblesville, Zionsville, Lafayette, Crown Point, Valparaiso, Michigan City, Hobart, Munster, South Bend, and Westfield).
This field‑based position requires 70% of your time (3‑4 days per week) spent in the field with customers, agents, and agency staff, with occasional travel to office locations for meetings, trainings, and culture events.

- Support and uphold the role of agency business owners as independent business owners, ensuring they understand the connection between corporate strategy and their practices and results.
- Provide guidance and exhibit influence and expertise, coaching agency owners on sales results and execution of the state sales plan.
- Assist owners in understanding district profit while preserving their control over the manner and means of selling insurance and operating their businesses.
- Manage company programs for the district that pertain to individual independent agency owners.
- Help owners target and prioritize sales activities and opportunities best suited to their market and situation.
- Provide business expertise to ensure the successful operation of their businesses.
- Source and select agency owners to fill openings.
- Build relationships with owners and staff, respecting their role as business owners.
- Experience providing customer‑driven solutions, support, and service.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of business systems to leverage efficiencies.
- Prior management experience or demonstrated leadership of project teams.
- Solid knowledge of project management methodologies, practices, techniques, and tools.
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience developing and executing operational business plans and marketing plans.
- Solid knowledge of budget management concepts.
- Previous agency experience or experience leading/influencing agency owners in the field.
- Proper insurance licensing to sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance products:
Property & Casualty (personal lines authority does not qualify), Life, and Health. - Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Up to 50% travel.
- All employees participate in New Employee Orientation during their first week, held in person at Madison, WI Headquarters or a core AmFam location, with some sessions delivered virtually.
