Qualifications
Instructional Aide Study Hall/Bia Supervisor
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Paraprofessional Approval (State and Federal) required for Special Education Assistant.
- Should be neat, thorough, industrious and have knowledge of school procedures.
- Requires good communication skills and the ability to work well with students and staff.
- Must be able to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and good judgment.
- Requires basic organizational, clerical and computer skills with the ability to operate commonly used office equipment.
- May require intermediate computer knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- May require a valid drivers license.
- May require musical accompaniment skills.
- Spanish speaking preferred
- High School diploma, or equivalent.
- Should be neat, thorough, industrious, and have knowledge of secretarial and school procedures.
- Must be proficient in typing (45 wpm) and experienced in general computer programs such as Word and Excel.
- Must have the ability to operate office equipment, do basic data entry, and maintain records and scheduling.
- Should have good written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact constructively with others.
- Must demonstrate strong organization skills, have graphic and artistic ability, and a general understanding of legal issues in education.
- Spanish speaking preferred
- Assist teachers with instruction. May adapt classroom activities, assignments and /or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher. This could also include administering assessments and helping students complete assignments.
- Implement behavior plans for students under the supervision of administrative staff or assigned certified staff.
- May assist students with hygiene needs (e.g. bathroom, changing clothes, changing diapers, feeding students, grooming, etc.).
- Monitor students during the school day in a variety of environments (e.g. rest rooms, hallways, cafeteria, bus loading zones, parking lots, community based instruction trips, etc.).
- Record keeping may include attendance, inventory, ordering, scheduling, and grading work.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Ability to effectively use the district student information system (i.e. Power School).
- Able to compose routine business correspondence and emails.
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices, which may include handling cash for various school activities.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and manage time efficiently so that projects are completed within deadlines.
- Use all office equipment and technology routinely.
- Appropriate communication skills.
- Ability to generate abstract data and assemble reports.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media.
- Ability to write professional communications.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
- Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology-related activities.
- Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies.
