1st​/2nd Grade Elementary Teacher - Summer

Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing counseling, case management, youth development, older adult service, and community development. Outreach is hiring a Full‑time 1st – 2nd Grade Elementary Teacher at Outreach Carol Stream to support students academically and in life skills during our summer program.

• Staff Training – June 1 to June 5 (MANDATORY)
• Program Dates – June 8 to July 31
• Program Schedule – 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

• $20.00 – $23.50/hour – based on education, experience, and language ability.

• The Elementary Teacher is responsible for building relationships with students and facilitating learning in the summer day program.
• The Elementary Teacher’s duties include academic and life skills instruction, community service and recreational activities, teaching Christian education, and facilitating group work with students involving experiential learning.
• The Elementary Teacher is responsible for parent communication and maintaining Outreach’s standard of classroom behavior during program time. The class size averages fifteen to twenty students.

• BA in Education, Social Work, or a related field.
• A passion for working with elementary‑age students.
• Classroom or group experience with children.
• Previous experience facilitating experiential or service learning is strongly preferred.
• Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low‑income, high‑risk families.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
• A current, valid IL driver’s license, along with a good driving record, is required.
• A commitment to Outreach’s Statement of Mission & Faith.
