Overview
The Village of Carol Stream has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and collaborative Civil Engineer with an interest in public service to join our Engineering Services team. The role supports building safe, sustainable, and innovative infrastructure that enhances the quality of life for our community.
ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Senior Civil Engineer, the Civil Engineer will gain broad municipal experience while working on a variety of public projects from concept through construction. Primary duties include capital improvement planning, development review and inspection, and asset management. The Civil Engineer will assist with engineering design, project management, and construction oversight, prepare cost estimates, plans, specifications, bids, and contract documents, provide technical guidance to staff and residents, and serve as a resource for enterprise software such as permitting, asset management, and GIS.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an accredited engineering program.
- Must be a certified Engineer in Training or obtain certification within one (1) year.
- At least one (1) year of professional engineering design and project management experience, with prior experience within a municipal sector.
- A valid Illinois Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Must be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours when required.
We offer a competitive starting salary of $86,977 to $98,997 depending on qualifications, an excellent benefit package including health (80% employer paid), dental, and life insurance, as well as IMRF pension system; commitment to professional development; and a collaborative team environment.
