Serac Inc. is seeking a hands‑on Retrofits Electrical Engineer II to support electrical upgrades and modernization projects for existing industrial packaging and automation equipment. In this role, you will design, program, and document electrical control system modifications to improve machine performance, extend equipment life, and meet evolving customer requirements. This position requires strong Allen‑Bradley PLC programming experience
, electrical schematic development, and on‑site commissioning support.

• Define retrofit scope based on customer and internal engineering requirements
• Modify and program Allen‑Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000)
• Develop and update HMIs (Factory Talk preferred)
• Design and revise electrical schematics using EPLAN P8
• Create and manage BOMs within PLM systems
• Support panel builds, testing, troubleshooting, and validation
• Travel as required to support machine start‑up and commissioning
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, ANSI, and UL standards
• Maintain accurate documentation and as‑built drawings

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
• Strong proficiency in Allen‑Bradley PLC programming (Studio 5000)
• Experience updating electrical schematics (EPLAN preferred)
• Experience supporting machinery retrofits or equipment upgrades
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control systems independently
• Willingness to travel as needed

• Experience in packaging, filling, or material handling equipment
• Experience with Siemens or B&R platforms
• Knowledge of UL 508A and NFPA 79
• Bilingual (Spanish or French) a plus

• Onsite role in Carol Stream, IL (5 days/week)
• Office and manufacturing floor environment
• Occasional domestic and international travel
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and support shop/startup activities
