Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for their assigned manufacturing processes. Through input from the customer, corporate support groups, plant staff, and production employees the Manufacturing Engineer will review process controls, emphasize continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing methodology and Kaizen activities, participate in the development of cell layouts, set up reduction (SMED), lead time reduction and improve productivity through waste reduction. In addition, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for achieving product target cost, improved efficiency and identifying processes production problems for existing products within their scope of accountability.
In this role you will:
- Continuously improve capabilities to meet customer dynamic need for new product and faster manufacturing by pursuing and participating in company LEAN initiatives.
- Support and/or perform equipment, process and assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Assist with procurement on Cost Savings projects, repairing equipment and tooling, and performing process failure mode effects analyses.
- Work with management to establish project timeliness, project justification, and budget forecasts.
- Act as resource for operational departments for materials, equipment and process upgrades.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Support plant safety rules, procedures and standards.
- Any other jobs/duties as assigned by the Engineering or Plant Manager
Required (Basic)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now and in the future
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility listed will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to gather and analyze relevant data of manufacturing operations and processes in order to optimize throughput, reduce scrap, and improve quality while ensuring the safety of plant personnel.
- Three (3)+ years' experience providing engineering support to a manufacturing work environment.
- Experience developing process flows, floor layouts, PFMEA, standard work instructions, LOTO (lock out/ tag out) Procedures, and workstation risk assessments.
- Proficient in MS Office and SOLIDWORKS, CAD/CAM or other similar software.
- Automotive industry experience.
- Experience in the design and support of automation equipment and production lines is desirable
- One plus year experience demonstrated hands on project management showing leadership ability to drive projects from start to end.
- One plus year experience collaborating and participating in capital spending projects within budgeted annual plans ranging from $50K and increasing to $1M+ in spend.
Must be able to work alone and on teams with good interpersonal and leadership qualities to get assigned tasks completed in a timely manner. Must possess effective and verbal communications skills. Must possess good organizational and prioritization skills to maintain and address multiple assigned projects and expectations. Experienced in the design and development of fixtures, automation workstations, accounting for work and process flow.
Must be able to present ideas in a clear and concise manner through various tools or software and gain approval from various levels of the organization. Experience and exposure to various manufacturing technologies such as CNC's, molding, grinding, and automation within a manufacturing environment.
