FINISHING OPERATOR – Overview

WALK-IN WEDNESDAYS 10AM-12PM

$2,000 SIGN ON BONUS

FINISHING OPERATOR WAGE:
Starting at $22.26 base to $26.59/hour + shift differential and progressive pay increases, earning potential of $33.87/hour + shift differential.

FINISHING OPERATOR SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. Employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual. Some departments/jobs may run a M-F 8-hour shift schedule. Must be willing and able to work overtime.

FINISHING OPERATOR

JOB SUMMARY:

The person in this position adjusts finishing equipment to process a flat carton order and oversee its production (glue experience is a plus). Work includes using Jagenberg folder/gluer machines.

FINISHING OPERATOR

JOB FUNCTIONS:

The following job functions include but are not limited to the duties described.

  • Adjust glue machinery to fit the carton style being processed and manufactured.
  • Maintain machinery at optimum manufacturing speed; when malfunctions occur, detect cause and adjust quickly.
  • Supervise manufacturing crew on gluer machinery; ensure efficiency and safety; train feeder/catcher trainees as necessary.
  • Assume duties of feeder or catcher when those workers are on breaks (approximately 2 hours per day).
  • Perform maintenance on gluer machinery (greasing, oiling, cleaning, glue pot maintenance, bearing and belt replacement).
  • Maintain written and electronic records of quality and production; monitor hourly measurements (carton alignment, edge caliper, opening force, glue length, etc.).
  • Responsible for production of labels per customer specs.
  • Ability and positive attitude to teach and help fellow operators troubleshoot problems when needed.

FINISHING OPERATOR BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE /

SKILLS:

  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Entry level computer skills
  • Ability to set up and troubleshoot listed equipment (906 Roberts Poly Pro, Jagenberg Diana 90 & 70, Bobst Domino 90 & 110, International Speed King)
  • Set up and run all Hot Melt units and troubleshoot as needed
  • Set up and run labelaire machines per customer specs
  • Ability to set up and run Jagenberg, Speed King, Bobst Domino, Window machine, and Pick and Place on the Domino
  • Feeder/Catcher experience preferred; mechanical experience helpful (automotive, small engine repair, etc.)
  • Finishing machine tools needed for make ready (allen wrench, screwdriver, etc.)

FINISHING OPERATOR EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements
  • Routine lifting up to 20 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, visual acuity
  • Inside conditions with heat, humidity, and noise; hearing protection required in the finishing area
  • Must read, write and speak English; working knowledge of finishing machine (gluer); mechanical aptitude; ability to read computer screens
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment

FEEDER – PACKER BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE /

SKILLS:

  • Entry-level experience

FEEDER – PACKER EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Education:

    None required

FEEDER – PACKER

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements
  • Routine lifting up to 35 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Push/pull pallet jack with up to 50 lb. load
  • Reading computer screens or other electronic devices
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature
