Job Summary
Prince Industries is looking for CNC Operators for our Turning / Swiss Department. We have openings on both first and second shifts.
Shift DetailsFirst Shift: 5:45am - 5:15pm, Monday through Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate production machinery to meet specifications.
- Perform tasks using established guidelines with limited judgment.
- Visually and dimensionally inspect production parts for defects and report to supervisor.
- Verify conformance of workpiece to specifications using micrometers, calipers, and go-no-go gauges.
- Apply statistical process control techniques.
- Read blueprints for dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Interpret the Job Traveler to determine work pieces, job rate, sequence of operation, etc.
- Follow Prince Industries quality certifications (ISO, QS).
- Operate machines independently with little or no instruction (startup, adjust tooling, replace worn tooling).
- Identify non‑functioning safety equipment or unsafe conditions.
- Conduct daily preventative maintenance checks (coolant levels, filters, fan operation, cleaning).
- Secure all tooling and instruments required (Doc: PQ01F03).
- Complete necessary job paperwork (tags, inspection documents, production log).
- Maintain product quality, protection, and storage (layer packing, rust preventive oils, box weight).
- Use basic inspection equipment (height gauge, optical comparators).
- Set up or adjust machines as needed (remove/set tools or diamonds, reset jaws, collets, guides).
- Transport finished materials manually or using pallet jack to the area indicated on the Job Traveler.
- Maintain established production rates and report discrepancies to supervisor.
- Listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Position and secure workpiece in holding device, table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
- Observe safety procedures (glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines).
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor, including department transfers when necessary.
- Recognize and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers.
- Comprehend and follow oral or written instructions.
- Perform intermediate shop math (fraction conversion, division, multiplication, percentages).
- Basic computer skills for inquiry, data collection, and input.
- Familiar with standard production field concepts, practices, and procedures.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience, apprenticeship, or formal training.
- 1–3 years of related machining operation experience preferred.
Job Requirements
- Stand and reach continuously for 8–10 hours per shift.
- Perform repetitive or short‑cycle work.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work near moving mechanical parts and handle fumes or airborne particles from metalworking coolants.
- Wear hearing protection due to loud environment.
