Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations, coordinating production schedules, and supervising production employees to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant production of finished products. The role is accountable for exceeding productivity, quality, and customer service objectives while maintaining GMP, food safety, regulatory, and company standards. This Production Supervisor plans and assigns work, develops and coaches team members, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and recommends enhancements to production methods, equipment, processes and working conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:- Supervise daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and compliance objectives are achieved.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance.
- Monitor and analyze key production metrics including output, efficiency, uptime, downtime, labor utilization, and schedule attainment.
- Track hourly production performance and implement corrective actions to address productivity or quality concerns.
- Coordinate with Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, Planning, and other support functions to eliminate production delays and ensure operational readiness.
- Develop workforce plans and manage staffing levels to support production requirements.
- Lead, coach, train, and develop regular and temporary employees to improve performance, engagement, and skill progression.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and implement development plans, coaching, and corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accountability for employee attendance, performance, productivity, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the availability of packaging materials and communicate inventory discrepancies to appropriate departments.
- Perform daily inventory reconciliation of packaging materials and support inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Support investigation of any non-conformances (CAPAs and SCARS)
- Review work orders, blend sheets, batch records, and process documentation with production personnel prior to execution.
- Verify completion of batch production activities and approve production documentation for accuracy and completion.
- Monitor ingredient usage, batch additions, and material consumption to ensure compliance with product specifications and inventory requirements.
- Ensure sanitation, housekeeping, and cleaning activities are completed according to established procedures and regulatory standards.
- Verify completion of laboratory testing and quality approvals before product release and packaging activities proceed.
- Identify safety risks, lead corrective actions, and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Understand H.A.C.C.P. and maintain procedures and documentation for Quality Systems
- Oversee or conduct training of new and existing employees to include production processes, machinery, system paperwork, GMP’s, sanitation, quality, and safety systems.
