Field Service Technician II
Industrial Automation – Liquid Filling & Packaging Machinery
Compensation: $37.16 – $41.11 per hour
Location: United States (80%+ Travel Required)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel Requirement: 80% or greater
Work Authorization: No sponsorship available
Position Summary
The Field Service Technician II is responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of liquid filling, capping, and packaging machinery at customer sites across North and South America, with occasional international assignments. This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role requiring strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in high‑demands production environments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Install, start up, and commission new and refurbished filling, capping, and packaging equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system issues
- Perform PLC diagnostics and limited modifications (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens platforms)
- Conduct preventive maintenance and equipment inspections
- Support product trials, changeovers, and format conversions
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation
- Provide root cause feedback and collaborate with engineering and project teams
- Communicate technical updates and service findings internally
- Minimum Associate degree in Electronic Technology or related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience)
- Minimum 5 years of experience troubleshooting industrial automation or packaging machinery
- Experience with liquid filling, capping, or packaging equipment preferred
- Working knowledge of PLC systems (Allen‑Bradley and/or Siemens)
- Ability to read electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and technical drawings
- Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver’s license
- 80% or greater travel
- Short‑notice deployments
- Weekend work as required
- Multi‑day and multi‑week onsite assignments
- Domestic and occasional international travel
- Must reside within one hour of an international airport
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in industrial environments
- Ability to work extended hours as needed
