Salary and Benefits
  • Starting at $15.00/hour - $16.00/hour for 16-17 year olds.
  • Starting at $16.00/hour - $17.00/hour for those 18+.

Hours
  • Part-time position (employees do not work more than 1,000 hours in a calendar year).
Job Requirements
  • Ability to work independently or with limited direction.
  • Ability to assume responsibilities as required for successful daily swim lessons, including issues related to staffing, safety, customer services, and lesson plans.
  • Create and effectively implement lesson plans appropriate to program level, and participant’s abilities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while performing duties, and while on park district premises.
  • Continue education by attending staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain and carry out all Carol Stream Park District’s rules and regulations.
  • Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, parents, and other affiliates.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules. Strictly enforce all general safety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting and correcting unsafe behavior.
  • Support, follow, administer and implement Carol Stream Park District policies, procedures, guidelines, and crisis management plans in a professional and positive manner.
  • Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of swimming skills; knowledge of organizing and conducting swimming lessons; previous experience in working with children is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to communicate instructions in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, and work well with the public and other staff.
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport by using tact and discretion with participants, parents, and staff.
  • Must display a high degree of emotional maturity while keeping difficult situations in proper perspective.
  • Must be detail oriented to be able to process information accurately.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Minimum Age: 16
