The Shipping Manager is responsible for the leadership, management, and technical problem solving of three assigned shifts of hourly employees to ensure shipping employees are engaged in verifying and keeping records with incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.
Essential Job Functions- Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
- Manages incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
- Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
- Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
- Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
- Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage and work areas.
- Compiles records of unfilled orders.
- Posts weight and shipping charges.
- Prepares bills of lading.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
- Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
- Adjust errors and complaints.

Experience- Ability to communicate in English. Ability to read a limited number or two and three syllable words in English and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write simple sentences in English.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read tape measure
- Basic math and counting skills.
- Must be able to use basic keyboarding to enter production and/or product information into the computer system as needed. (i.e. customer information, production etc.)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- You must possess a Fork Truck Operator’s license.
- A driver's license is required
The proposed salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
- The plant is not temperature controlled, and the plant may be very cold during the winter and hot on summer days.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, up to 50 with assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. - The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
