Job SummaryThe Material Handler I is responsible for supporting warehouse operations through the safe storage, movement, handling, and shipment of materials, supplies, and inventory. This role works under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor and performs daily assignments related to moving materials between storage, production, workstations, pickup locations, and shipping areas.
The ideal candidate has forklift experience, strong attention to safety, and the ability to accurately maintain inventory records while working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Job Responsibilities- Follow all established health, safety, and operational procedures and applicable regulations.
- Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely and with awareness of surrounding personnel and equipment.
- Inspect and maintain forklifts to ensure they are properly stored, fueled, cleaned, and ready for operation.
- Report equipment issues and perform basic maintenance activities as assigned.
- Move inventory, materials, supplies, and goods between storage, production, workstation, pickup, and shipping locations.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and transport items to the appropriate warehouse or production areas.
- Move and stage inventory for shipping and load materials onto the appropriate delivery or shipping vehicles.
- Stack, organize, and store bulk materials and inventory according to established warehouse procedures.
- Maintain and update inventory activity, records, lists, and logs.
- Record completed tasks and submit required inventory documentation at the end of the workday.
- Identify damaged materials or parts and report the need for replacements or further action.
- Maintain an organized and safe work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to operate both stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
- Ability to follow established safety procedures and warehouse operating practices.
- Ability to accurately maintain inventory records and complete required documentation.
- Ability to safely move, stack, organize, and handle materials in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to work independently and follow daily assignments provided by the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Two or more years of experience working with forklifts, heavy machinery, or related warehouse equipment preferred.
