Position: Electrical Engineer III  Communications

Electrical Engineer III – Communications (OTTO Engineering)

Responsibilities
  • Lead full‑cycle development, driving design, bring‑up, HW/SW integration, factory support, validation, and customer support.
  • Own component selection, specifying and evaluating components for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Design digital systems, architect interface logic, sensors, peripherals, microprocessors, memory, and connectivity.
  • Develop audio circuitry, working with A/D and D/A converters, audio power amps, op‑amps, and signal‑chain components.
  • Engineer advanced analog circuits: filters, FETs, linear/switch‑mode power supplies, battery monitoring, and charging.
  • Validate product performance through test, analysis, and documentation to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Support existing products by implementing updates, troubleshooting issues, and assisting factory and field teams.
  • Create production‑ready documentation: schematics (Altium), BOMs, ECNs, test plans, and specifications.
  • Guide PCB design, providing direction on routing, high‑speed interfaces, impedance control, power distribution, and EMC compliance.
  • Perform hands‑on troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, DMMs, and lab equipment.
  • Define and execute testing: performance, reliability, EMC, and failure‑analysis.
  • Establish production test requirements: board‑level and end‑of‑line test strategies and equipment selection.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Quality, Mechanical, Firmware, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Drive design reviews, participate in DFMEAs to ensure robust, high‑quality designs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance by coordinating with test labs and agencies.
  • Support project planning, defining timelines and ensuring adherence to schedules.
  • Take on evolving challenges, contributing to additional engineering tasks as projects grow and shift.
Qualifications
  • Experience with digital, analog, and audio circuit design.
  • Proficiency in interfaces such as SDIO, IC, SPI, RS‑232, UART, JTAG, and serial/parallel connections.
  • Knowledge of GPS, accelerometers, IMUs, speakers, microphones.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth, USB, and related protocols.
  • Experience with schematic/layout tools;
    Altium preferred.
  • Strong technical depth, initiative, and ability to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision.
