Tool and Die Maker

Overview

Tool and Die Maker position at OTTO Engineering involves leading tool development and debugging of new dies. This role requires hands-on experience with tooling for stamping and die work, reading blueprints and CAD data, and collaboration with manufacturing teams to ensure tooling readiness and part quality.

• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Understand tool steels and production material
• Construct, alter or repair tools from blueprints and CAD data
• Operate tool room equipment
• Fabricate tooling for the stamping department
• Maintain tooling records for preventative maintenance
• Set up dies, material feeds, and operate the punch press to trial tools
• Debug and troubleshoot new tooling for part approval processes
• Assist in die changeovers
• Assist with other related duties as required

• Completed Tool and Die Apprenticeship or 10+ years of equivalent experience
• 5-7 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker with troubleshooting skills
• Expert in blue print reading with GDT
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of SPC
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Ability to push 200 lbs on wheeled carts with assistance
• Ability to use various inspection equipment
• Must be available for mandatory overtime or non-standard or extended work schedule
• CNC Mill and EDM experience is a plus

The hiring range listed is the anticipated hourly rate; exceptions may be considered for highly experienced candidates.

• Target hourly hiring range: 26.00 to 33.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
• Profit Sharing Bonus — OTTO shares profits with employees twice a year; not a guaranteed part of compensation
• Vacation: five days after 30 days of employment, and 80 hours at 1 year; vacation accrues on the anniversary date
