Sr. Accountant

Description

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

+ Execute month‑end and year‑end close, including preparing and posting journal entries.

+ Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.

+ Assist with preparing financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP.

+ Analyze financial data, identify trends, and present insights to leadership.

+ Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules and documentation.

Accounts Receivable Management

+ Oversee the full AR cycle: invoicing, cash application, and collections.

+ Maintain accurate customer accounts and documentation (including resale certificates).

+ Set and monitor credit terms and limits based on credit reviews and payment history.

+ Review AR aging reports and lead collection efforts on past‑due accounts.

+ Communicate with customers professionally via phone and email for collections and issue resolution.

+ Investigate billing discrepancies, deductions, and payment issues with sales, customer service, and distribution teams.

+ Process and apply daily cash receipts (checks, wires, ACH, credit cards).

+ Maintain sales tax tables and ensure proper sales tax application.

+ Partner with the Sales Team to support customer experience and optimize cash flow.

Process Improvement & Compliance

+ Develop and document accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.

+ Identify opportunities to streamline AR and general accounting processes through automation and technology enhancements.

+ Maintain accurate financial and customer records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including accounts receivable.

Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant financial regulations.

Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).

Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis).

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and research skills with high attention to detail.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
