RECREATION LEADER (PART-TIME) - LIBRARY SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Program runs June 16 - August 19, 2026. Program hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 1:00 p.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
Under general supervision, this position is for the Library’s Summer Reading Program. In this role, you will lead activities and crafts, provide customer service, and help with day-to-day program operations.
Hourly Rate: $21.10 - $25.65

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Responsibilities- Assists with the Summer Reading Program, activities, crafts, and special events for various age groups.
- Responds to inquiries and concerns from the public and program participants.
- Communicates effectively with supervisor regarding participant behavior, injuries, and other relevant matters.
- Provides exemplary customer service to all individuals.
- Collaborates effectively as an essential team member, demonstrating flexibility, cooperation, and open communication to foster a positive and cohesive working environment.
- Promotes recreation program activities and facilities; assists in the preparation of departmental materials.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
- One year of work or volunteer experience in recreation programs and/or customer service, preferred.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
Knowledge:
- Principles and practices of customer service.
- Developing collaborations to support recreation programming and outreach efforts.
- Basic operations, services and activities of facility use, rental, and recreation services.
- Principles and practices of program development and implementation.
- Modern office equipment including computers.
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and safety regulations.
Skills/Abilities:
- Provide instruction and guidance to program participants.
- Facilitate a variety of recreational programs and activities.
- Demonstrate use of program materials and equipment.
- Use sound judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
- Operate and use standard office equipment including computers and applicable software.
- Utilize appropriate safety procedures and practices for assigned duties.
- Interpret and explain City policies and procedures.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including the general public, contractors and organizations.
- Publicize, promote, develop, and implement recreation programs for a wide variety of public interests.
- Compile information and maintain records.
- Ability to speak Spanish is not required but preferred.
