Job Title:
Pre‑K Teacher Assistant
Salary: $17.65 per hour

Qualifications- Minimum degree:
High School diploma and completion of EDU 119 or equivalent; hold AA or BA/BS degree or currently enrolled in a degree‑granting program; AA in Early Childhood preferred. - Minimum experience:
All applicants must be designated as "Highly Qualified". 48 college credits or 7 credits in core subject matter and passing Work Keys test scores.
To assist the teacher in providing a well‑organized, smoothly‑functioning class environment.
To provide exceptional education to students (individually or in groups) with physical help and emotional support so they can benefit from the instructional program.
Job Responsibilities- Assist with instruction and management of students by working with individual students, small groups or large groups, including guiding students with curriculum tasks or IEP, setting up the teacher, reinforcing learning, devising special strategies, and behavior management.
- Communicate with regular/special education teachers about student problems or special information as appropriate.
- Communicate and respond to parents, maintaining confidentiality of student information.
- Assist with physical needs of students (e.g., putting on/out of outerwear, moving rooms, using bathroom).
- Perform classroom health and safety procedures; check playground area each day for safety issues.
- Serve as substitute teacher as needed, and serve as the chief source of information and help for substitute teachers.
- Assume morning/afternoon extended care duties as scheduled.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information, remain professional at all times, and avoid gossip or improper dress.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the teacher or supervisor.
Lead Teacher, Pre‑K/Head Start Director, Principal, or designee.
Terms Of EmploymentTen months each year; work schedule determined by the Director of Pre‑K/Head Start. Salary is according to the District’s adopted schedule.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to physically perform basic operational functions: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, hearing; lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
EvaluationEvaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
