pAt CHCCS, a teacher's goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience needed to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world.

Essential Duties

ul liDevelops lesson plans and instructional materials liProvides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student liCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students liEstablishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom liGuides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals

liEstablishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to the students /ul /li liEmploys a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media liEvaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports liCommunicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interprets the school program liIdentifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems liMaintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and through self-selected professional growth activities liParticipates in curriculum development programs as required
liParticipates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities /ul /li liInstructs pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities liDevelops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil liTranslates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction liCreates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students liEstablishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom liGuides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals

Education/Experience Requirements
ul liHolds or is eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license liBachelor's Degree required liPrior teaching experience preferred liSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable /ul p
