We are seeking an experienced MEP Engineer to support a commercial/institutional renovation project in North Carolina. The selected candidate will provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering support, including system design, HVAC coordination, construction documentation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and construction administration through project closeout.
Key Responsibilities- Design plumbing systems for new ADA-compliant single-occupancy restrooms
- Design electrical systems supporting restroom construction, breakroom renovations, and security/access control systems
- Coordinate HVAC modifications within existing occupied facilities
- Verify HVAC make-up air and ventilation requirements
- Prepare MEP construction documents and technical specifications
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and project managers
- Provide MEP input for project cost estimating during design development
- Support bid-phase activities, including RFIs and technical clarifications
- Conduct MEP field inspections during construction administration
- Review contractor submittals and shop drawings
- Support punch list activities and project closeout
- Prepare and review as-built and record drawings
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Minimum 8 years of professional MEP engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain North Carolina licensure before project start
- Experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems for commercial or institutional renovation projects
- Experience preparing construction documents and technical specifications
- Strong understanding of building codes, ADA requirements, and applicable engineering standards
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams
- North Carolina PE license
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
- Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD)
- Experience supporting architect-led design teams
- Experience with occupied facility renovations
- Experience with security/access control power and low-voltage coordination
- Commercial and institutional renovation projects
- ADA-compliant restroom design
- Electrical power and low-voltage system coordination
- HVAC renovations within existing occupied facilities
- Construction administration
- Bid support, RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and punch list inspections
- Record drawing preparation
- AutoCAD
- Revit MEP
- Bluebeam Revu
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Autodesk BIM Tools
