Maintenance Mechanic / Senior Maintenance Mechanic
Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) seeks a Maintenance Mechanic or Senior Maintenance Mechanic team member for our Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant. The ideal candidate should be a self‑motivated team player with a positive attitude and a proven solid work ethic. This position ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operations within OWASA facilities while helping to maintain all company assets.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on water and wastewater plant equipment, including pumps, valves, piping, various types of electrical equipment such as generators, motors, variable frequency drives, motor control centers, transfer switches, control circuits, and Programmable Logic Controls instrumentation.
- Install new equipment and dispose of old equipment.
- Inspect equipment; complete pump station and tank inspections; maintain spare parts inventory.
- Operate various trucks and other equipment to complete job tasks.
- Assist in maintaining plant buildings and facilities; conduct general mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing upkeep, ensuring facility safety standards are met.
- Create, receive, and complete work orders through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Serve on the OWASA Spill Response Team.
Maintenance Mechanic (Salary $47,364 – $71,046)
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one year of maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment is desired.
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License.
- Physical ability to occasionally lift 100 pounds; willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and respond to on‑call after‑hour emergencies.
- Meet and maintain the requirements of the OWASA’s Spill Response Team (bi‑annual physical, ability to wear a full‑face respirator, annual HAZWOPER training, etc.).
Senior Maintenance Mechanic (Salary $60,372 – $90,558)
- High School Diploma or equivalent with additional specialized school and/or training.
- At least four years of maintenance experience.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Experience using a CMMS.
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License and Spill Response Team qualifications.
