There is a strong focus on direct delivery, with specialist subcontractors used only where required for scaffolding and asbestos‑related works.

Recent changes following Awaab’s Law have increased expectations around quality, compliance and aftercare, making skilled and dependable operatives essential to the successful delivery of the service.

Working mainly in occupied properties, you’ll attend day‑to‑day responsive repair jobs covering carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and basic decorating. No two days are the same, so you’ll need to be adaptable, organised and confident working across multiple trades, while delivering a high standard of workmanship first time and providing excellent customer service. This is a great opportunity to join a team that takes pride in improving homes and making a real difference within the community, and we’re looking for someone dependable, customer‑focused and committed to doing the job right.

Duties:
  • Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across social housing properties, including damp and mould‑related works

  • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors
  • Identify and resolve minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks
  • Carry out patch plastering and make good to damaged walls and ceilings
  • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
  • Undertake painting and decorating to a professional standard following repair works
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with current standards
  • Work respectfully within occupied properties, considering residents’ needs and privacy
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents’ homes
  • Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
  • Report any additional works, safeguarding concerns or property issues outside the original scope
  • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good working order
  • Manage daily workload effectively to meet service level targets
  • Participate in the out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota when required
Role Criteria:
  • Proven experience carrying out domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating
  • Experience working on responsive repairs and within social housing, including damp and mould‑related works
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own workload and deliver repairs to a high standard first time
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills, with a practical and proactive approach
  • Excellent customer service skills, with confidence working in occupied homes and communicating effectively with residents
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements, safe working practices and compliance standards
  • Comfortable using handheld devices or job management systems to accurately record works completed
  • Willingness to participate in an out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota as required
