Travel LPN - LPN

American Traveler is hiring a travel LPN/LVN with at least 1 year of LTC experience for a 13-week night shift assignment at a skilled nursing facility in Iowa.

Job Details

• Work in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) connected to a hospital, with 79 beds across four areas: a Memory Care Unit (locked, 1st floor) and North, South, and East Halls (2nd floor),

• Patient population is primarily elderly residents, including some with cognitive disabilities; common diagnoses reflect a long-term care setting,

• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by area and shift: 1 nurse per 31, 30, or 18 residents depending on hall assignment; 1 nurse covers Memory Care at all hours; overnight staffing is 1 nurse and one Med Aide on the 2nd floor,

• LPNs may work with IVs and PICC lines if certified; IV experience is relevant to this role,

• Charting is done in Point Click Care  (PCC),

• Scheduled for night shifts; primary shift is 10p-6a with occasional 6p-6a shifts,

• Shift lengths of 8 or 12 hours depending on unit needs,

• Every other weekend required,

• Holiday coverage required based on unit needs,

• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible,

Job Requirements

• Current LPN/LVN license required if applicable,

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a large LTC facility required,

• Prior travel nursing assignments required; first-time travelers will not be considered,

• Current BLS certification (AHA) required,

• Mandatory Reporter Training - Adult required,

• Iowa Dementia Training (8 hours/year) required,

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility,

Additional Information

• LPNs perform the same duties as RNs on this unit, with the exception that LPNs may not manage IVs unless certified,

• Staff rotate throughout halls and units within the facility but do not float to other hospital departments,

• Orientation consists of 2 days in each area of the facility,

• Physicians are available on-call after hours; managers rotate taking call overnight so support is always accessible,

• Interdisciplinary team includes a social worker and PT/OT/Speech therapists through the hospital's therapy department,

• Staff may be asked to escort or transport residents to lab, radiology, and other hospital areas as needed,

• Staff are expected to assist residents with transportation to and from the on-site chapel as needed; the facility is a Catholic organization,

• Any scrub color is acceptable; sweatshirts and t-shirts are not permitted
