Minimum 8 hours/week
Available Times:
Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Fridays between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
$500 stipend/semester (Starting July 1, 2026 with possible extension through end of year)

About Us

Each year, the Carroll Center for the Blind helps nearly 1,300 blind or visually impaired children, adults and senior citizens gain the skills they need to live active and fulfilling lives. Our Newton campus houses our rehabilitation program, computer training classes, low vision store, and administrative offices. A large portion of our programs are services conducted in public schools, students’ homes, and their communities.

We Seek

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and hard-working intern to work closely with our HR team on day-to-day operations and various projects,
exposing this individual to many components of HR duties. As an HR Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working on a variety of HR and
Project Management related assignments and initiatives, such as supporting our employee recognition programs, streamlining the documentation
retention process, and recruitment. You will also learn how each facet contributes to the organization as a whole and, therefore, drives our mission
to help our clients achieve independence.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the research, preparation, and communication involved with employee recognition events and celebrations.
  • Conduct audits of personnel files, employment documentation, required trainings, and other compliance-related items.
  • Support the automation of processes for existing HR department processes.
  • Opportunity to observe and/or participate in the recruitment process, including running background checks and conducting reference calls.
  • Update sections of the HR Manual for HR department reference and use.
  • Assist in compiling HR metrics and preparing related reports.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including maintaining and organizing HR files and records.
  • Prepare new hire welcome packages and employee badges.
  • Assist in advancing accessibility within the HR department to better serve both employees and clients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Human Resources, Business, or Business Administration.
  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft Suite required.
  • Strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to respect confidential and sensitive information, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Experience with Google Documents and Google Sheets preferred.
  • Interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
