Mechanical Assembler I

Mechanical Assembler I is an entry‑level position. The purpose is to gain a basic understanding of deburring and air grinding operations. Operators must obtain a basic level knowledge to deburr and clean parts in a manner necessary to produce precision parts with direct supervision by a more senior Mechanical Assembler with Deburring Certification (level II or above). The operator follows established standard work under general supervision in efforts to obtain certification and will typically refer problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, Supervisors, or engineers.

External candidates will receive a $1,000 sign‑on bonus.

• Maintain and operate deburring and air grinding tools and operate speed lathes.
• Read blueprints in order to verify work was completed properly.
• Operate and do daily/weekly checks on equipment.
• Accurately participate in the COPQ process, utilizing the ACE portal for issues or process improvement.
• Accurately complete production documentation and perform necessary labor transactions.
• Operate hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment and light equipment.
• Work under direct supervision. Normally follow established procedures on routine work and require instructions on new assignments.
• Apply basic job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
• Tasks are semi‑routine in nature, but recognize the need for some judgment.
• Support and follow all rules, guidelines, and standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
• Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety‑related activities.
• Over 40 hours is required as scheduled to meet business needs.
• All other duties as assigned, including working extended shifts or overtime as required by the business.
• The schedule for this position is 2nd shift Monday through Friday 3:30 pm – 12:00 am. Training, however, will be the first 2–3 months Monday through Friday, 7 am – 3:30 pm.

• Typically requires HS Diploma or equivalent or vocational/technical education in related discipline.

• Ability to learn how to read and understand prints.
• Basic computer proficiency (e‑mail, print documents, internet) and ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions.
• Basic shop math including knowledge of geometric tolerances.
• Basic proficiency with identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.
• Ability to learn the various inspection tools needed for the job.
• Ability to learn the tools (ball burr, flame bit, etc.) needed for each job.
• Ability to learn and understand deburring operations.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
