What You Will Do
- Produce machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating CNC or manual machines, including lathes, mills, grinders, and other specialized equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, design sketches and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for operational, material, and dimensional requirements.
- Assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts into sub‑units or complete units using mechanical equipment.
- Takes measurements of material and select appropriate machines for the process.
- Conduct machining set‑ups and make adjustments as required.
- Inspects work produced and checks SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging and measurements.
- Keep records and maintain quality and safety standards.
- Exhibit RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values.
- Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality and CI functions as set by the assigned leader and position.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including working extended shifts or overtime as required by the business.
The schedule for this position is 2nd shift Monday through Friday 3:30 pm – 12:00 am. Training will be the first 2‑3 months Monday through Friday 7 am – 3:30 pm.
Qualifications We Require- High school diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Certification in the core discipline with 4–5 months of employment.
- Certification on multiple programs labeled as moderate to difficult in degree of complexity.
- Minimum of two years’ experience operating CNC machining centers.
- Effective communication across disciplines and with all levels to resolve issues quickly.
- Critical thinking skills—using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Demonstrated ability to execute specific goals and prioritize, organize, and accomplish daily tasks, often with little or no supervision.
- Ability to train, mentor, and help others improve their knowledge of skills, respected by peers for hard work and ethics.
- Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- General awareness of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Considered a technical expert in at least one discipline.
- Capability to work on multiple complex programs in the primary discipline and on several moderate programs in the primary or additional disciplines.
- Effective communication with all levels of employees and management.
