Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, designs, sketches and GD&T for operation, material and dimensional requirements.
  • Assemble, repair and fabricate metal parts into sub‑units or complete units using mechanical equipment.
  • Take measurements of material and select appropriate machines for the process.
  • Perform machining set‑ups and make adjustments as required.
  • Conduct inspections of work produced, checking SPC charts for frequency of checks, gauging and measurements.
  • Keep records and maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Exhibit RTX Leadership Behaviors and Values.
  • Support and follow all rules, guidelines and standards set by EHS, Quality and CI functions as directed by the assigned leader and position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working extended shifts and overtime as required by the business.
Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Machine operator certification.
  • Certified on multiple programs with moderate to high difficulty complexity.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FAR 145 certification if requested by the business.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in a related machine operator role in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Manual dexterity for machine operations.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Demonstrated program proficiency with minimal scrap and rework.
  • Advanced proficiency reading and understanding prints.
  • Moderate to advanced computer proficiency (e‑mail, MS Office, printing documents, internet) and ability to train others on this process.
  • Basic shop math including knowledge of geometric tolerances.
  • Advanced proficiency in identifying, analyzing and resolving problems.
  • Working knowledge of ACE principles and regular use of the ACE portal to document issues and opportunities.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of machining techniques.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to train others on machine operations, concepts, processes and practices.
  • Proven track record of training and sharing knowledge of machine operations and related activities.
  • Effective communication with all levels of employees and management.
