Responsibilities
  • Perform written assessments of residents’ condition upon admission and periodically during the nursing process to ensure provision of quality care.
  • Administer drugs and other therapeutic and diagnostic measures in accordance with physician orders and observe and chart the effects.
  • Document all nursing interventions to ensure communication with peers, physicians and to meet legal obligations.
  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinate staff and assign tasks based on their capabilities.
  • Assist in the development of discharge or transfer plans in collaboration with physicians, families and other resources.
  • Collaborate with physicians in coordinating medical and nursing care plans and report changes in resident status.
  • Assist with orientation, instruction, training, and supervision of subordinate personnel.
  • Consult with and keep supervisors informed of activities, needs, and problems.
  • Ensure resident and employee safety; report all conditions or equipment issues.
  • Monitor resident health status through vital signs and blood sugar checks; notify physicians of any changes.
  • Oversee staff compliance with safety regulations and the use of supplies and equipment.
  • Review resident care plans for appropriate goals, problems, and revisions based on nursing needs.
  • Ensure care is delivered fairly with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Oversee, develop, and help implement the QAPI for assigned departments.
  • Respond to emergency medical situations and perform on‑spot emergency assistance, including first aid and CPR.
  • Act professionally, safely and ethically at all times.
  • Serve as a patient advocate.
  • Maintain friendly and courteous interpersonal communication and a positive service attitude.
  • Participate in performance improvement and educational activities; complete required CEUs.
  • Work willingly and accept assignments as given.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and programs.
  • Participate in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy, applicable laws, state and federal regulations, and JCAHO standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
Qualifications
  • Education and Licensure: RN with state license required; LPN with state license required.
  • Certifications: CPR and Basic Life Support; ongoing CEUs as required by licensure.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ability to work with others, and good professional judgment.
  • Ability to create caring, compassionate relationships with patients and families.
  • Ability to collaborate with the healthcare team and use evidence‑based practice.
  • Ability to work independently and organize time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work flexibly.
  • Capability to carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety, operating, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of basic physical demands, such as lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, and exposure to infectious diseases.
