Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide patient’s personal hygiene and daily living support, including cleaning bedpans and urinals, assisting with baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaving, as well as assisting patients with showers and meal intake. Ambulate, turn, and position patients and provide fresh water and nourishment between meals.
- Administer enemas, douches, non‑sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths, and apply restraints.
- Perform patient admissions; check vital signs and weight; perform sugar and acetone urine testing, specimen collection, and post‑mortem care.
- Communicate with and keep the professional nurse informed of unit activities, needs, and problems related to patient care.
- Notify the professional nurse and Unit Secretary of patient transfer and discharge times.
- Answer call lights promptly.
- Record patient information regarding Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
- Use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to enter and document orders.
- Work effectively as a team member, assisting in the orientation of new employees and maintaining good working relationships with nursing unit staff and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.
- Instill confidence in patients by maintaining a neat appearance and performing duties competently and caringly; report patient observations to the caring nurse to ensure professional assessment.
- With specialized training and written approval, perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to the assigned area.
- Assist in patient teaching assignments.
- Complete all CEU requirements as required by respective licensure and maintain an active and current license if licensed.
- Maintain friendly and courteous interpersonal communication skills and a positive service attitude.
- Participate in performance improvement and educational activities.
- Work willingly and accept assignments as given.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and programs.
- Participate in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
- Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
- Comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and standards of conduct related to the position and report any suspected violations.
- Comply with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment using safe practices, standard precautions, and hazardous waste procedures as described in the Safety Manual.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee, and organizational information.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education And/or Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Successful completion of a nursing assistant course or equivalent.
- Successfully passed the competency and skills tests to be eligible for state registry.
- Previous hospital experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support certification within three months of hire.
- Ability to create a caring, compassionate relationship with patients and families.
