As our Overnight Nurse, you will provide skilled nursing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our ICF homes.
Your nights may include:- Providing compassionate, person-centered nursing care.
- Monitoring residents’ health and responding to changes or concerns.
- Administering medications and treatments accurately and safely.
- Responding to overnight health calls and providing clinical guidance to staff.
- Assessing situations and determining when additional medical attention is needed.
- Responding calmly and professionally to emergencies.
- Supporting residents with daily living needs, including hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
- Assisting with specialized needs such as G-tubes, feeding needs, and suprapubic care.
- Obtaining overnight vital signs when needed.
- Administering PRN medications and addressing health-related concerns.
- Maintaining accurate eMAR and health record documentation.
- Helping ensure medications, supplies, and equipment are organized and available.
- Advocating for residents’ rights, preferences, dignity, and independence.
- Working collaboratively with staff and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Helping maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment throughout the night.

We’re looking for an nurse who is:
- Compassionate and respectful.
- Calm and confident in emergency situations.
- Comfortable making sound clinical decisions.
- A strong communicator and listener.
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills.
- Comfortable working independently during overnight hours.
- Committed to protecting the rights and dignity of the people we serve.
- Able to work collaboratively with direct-care staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Completion of a state-approved practical nursing program.
- Unencumbered Iowa Registered Nurse(RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Valid driver’s license and Chauffeur’s License (D3).
- Satisfactory driving record and ability to be insured under New Hope’s auto insurance.
- Successful completion of New Hope’s Safety-Care Training.
The ability to safely assist with lifting/transferring dependent individuals, pushing wheelchairs and medication carts is also required.
