Position
Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician)
Position OverviewPrimary focus on new installations of cable television and broadband services, driving a company van, visiting customer homes, and representing Mediacom to customers. Duties include installation, changes of service, outlet installation, disconnection, payment collection, and special installation requests.

- Install customer drop installations (exterior and interior) from tap to antenna terminals in single and multiple unit dwellings, including pre-wired units
- Perform new connections, reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects; add outlets; install and remove converters; upgrade or downgrade service
- Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability after cable installation
- Use connectors, fasteners, wire, and hand tools
- Operating CATV hand and power tools as required
- Complete paperwork as prescribed by system management
- Read signal levels using a field strength meter and troubleshoot installation problems; install tap-off devices and maintain clearances
- Climb poles with proper equipment (safety belt, safety strap, climbers), ladders, or other structures as needed
- Lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs., work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces
- Use and maintain VOM or DMM to check for open/short circuits and measure voltage
- Read drop system layouts from blueprints
- Inform customers of FCC rules and company policies
- Drive company vehicle and maintain it, including bucket truck use
- Generate additional revenue through sales techniques and promoting product options and promotions
- Perform cleanup, salvage of wrecked materials, provide assistance to other employees as directed
- Adhere to codes, guidelines, procedures, and safe work practices to provide outstanding customer service
- No experience required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
- General mechanical and consumer device knowledge
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
- Ability to work in high or tight spaces
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights
- Flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
- Frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50-100 lbs.) and heavy hand tools

SalarySalary range: $17.00 - $18.50 an hour. The final offer considers experience, skills, education, and certifications.
