LOCATION: Carroll, IA
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SHOP
HOURS:
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Specific Shift Hours TBD - Based on preference and experience, along with shop need.
Housby is looking for a dynamic Diesel Technician to join our growing Carroll team! This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles according to OEM guidelines with moderate supervision and communicating needed repairs to management.
EXPECTATIONSEssential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain equipment by performing inspections to identify work and/or damaged parts.
- Diagnose and repair vehicles according to OEM guidelines.
- Make recommendations of repairs needed to management to provide estimate for customers.
- Correct vehicle deficiencies by replacing, repairing, and adjusting parts. This may include disassembly of major components, subcomponents, or systems to include engine, drive train, electrical, air conditioning, cabs, clutches, and other components.
- Perform repairs within given timelines.
- Properly document time and steps taken for correction of customer complaint.
- Use shop provided tools as per intended use. Should a tool be lost or broken, report this to management immediately.
- Properly dispose of any fluids.
- Clean work bay when repairs are complete.
- Follow general safety rules for each job. Ear/eye protection, leather boots, safety cages, etc.
- Must supply tools to make job as efficient as possible.
- Willing to obtain a CDL within the first year of employment.
- Complete continuing education courses, as needed.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of diesel engine experience and/or medium duty gas engines.
- Training on multiple different classes of trucks is a plus.
- Class A or B CDL preferred but not required. (Company will assist employee to comply.)
- Possess a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- General computer skills.
- Must follow and have Housby's Core Values.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Willing to continue education as directed.
- Ability to view a computer monitor.
- Alpha/numeric keyboarding.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, walking, and reaching for long periods of time.
- The work environment for this position is varied due to the differences in our work site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical, vibrations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Works primarily indoors. Exposed to some outside weather.
