Job Summary
The Student Assistant supports the day‑to‑day operations of the Office of Accessibility and Testing Services by assisting with testing services, front desk support, and general office tasks. This role serves as a welcoming first point of contact and helps ensure a positive experience for students, faculty, and visitors.
This position requires strong communication skills, reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing respectful and inclusive service to all students. Student assistants work under the supervision of full‑time staff and follow established office procedures to support a smooth and organized environment.
Responsibilities- Assisting with test proctoring for students using the Testing Center, including students with accommodations and other approved testers
- Providing basic support to students by answering questions and directing them to appropriate staff for assistance with accommodations or services
- Supporting front desk and administrative tasks such as check‑in/check‑out processes, answering phones, and maintaining organized testing and office spaces
- Previous leadership experience or campus knowledge
- Must have attended the University of West Georgia for one full semester
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours
- Must have and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods while working at a computer and/or assisting students
- Ability to stand, walk, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs)
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with frequent student, staff, faculty, and visitor interactions
- Prior experience in a customer service or campus office environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, professional demeanor
- Comfort using basic office technology (email, scheduling systems, scanners)
- Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast‑paced environment
- Interest in supporting students and promoting an inclusive campus environment
