Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will actively contribute to the work of the School of Humanities by fulfilling the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct historical research on downtown buildings, businesses, and notable sites. 25%
  • Compile, verify, and fact-check historical data using reliable primary and secondary sources. 20%
  • Write and edit concise, engaging narratives for QR code tour content. 15%
  • Assist with organizing and cataloging historical materials, records, and photographs. 5%
  • Collaborate with staff to format tour content for digital platforms. 10%
  • Support the collection of general historical data for future projects, reports, or exhibits. 5%
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Building History Tour and downtown history initiatives. 10%
Required Qualifications
  • Fully admitted to a graduate degree program dents admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree in progress.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in historic preservation and cultural resource management.
  • Ability to research and write constructively with or without the use of AI.
  • History graduate student preferred.
Proposed Salary
  • A monthly stipend of $500.00 per month.
  • A tuition waiver, reducing the semester rate to $25 plus mandatory fees while employed in the assistantship.
