Position: Senior Process Improvement Specialist - Performance Excellence (Days)

Business Improvement Project Leader

Lead the delivery of business improvement projects to enable improvements in customer and business value. Collaborate with team members who work across enterprise-wide organizational structures. Provide frequent communication about projects to stakeholders, departments, and management to ensure projects deadlines are met, issues are identified and mitigated, and leaders are informed of any risks.

Required Knowledge & Skills

Education: Master's Degree

Experience: Six years of related experience. Requires advanced knowledge in highly specialized systems and procedures.

Licenses and Certifications: NONE REQUIRED

Qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Six or more years of process improvement experience. Experience in healthcare operations preferred.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Experience in interacting with client staff and leadership in the development of processes, frameworks, communications, training, and change management materials
  • Experience interacting with Project leadership to define project goals, objectives, purpose, and then executing on defined requirements
  • Direct experience with developing process models in MS Visio
  • Experience working as a part of a team to achieve client-driven objectives and requirements
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of healthcare analytics and CMS reported metrics (HEDIS, PQRS, NHSN,... ) a plus.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn new skills and drive changes in a positive spirit of cooperation and collaboration

Functions

Area of Responsibilities

  • Projects are aligned, undertaken, and executed to support the organization's strategic objectives and goals that optimize patient safety, quality, delivery and reduce cost to achieve Tanner Health's mission and vision.
  • Partner with sponsors, process owners, team members and strategic and operational leadership to execute the project and deliver results.
  • Instruct, coach, and guide cross-functional teams in adapting to and understanding improvement processes, facilitating Kaizen and Rapid Improvement Events.
  • Create insightful process maps, workflow diagrams and Value Steam Maps.
  • Plan and complete assigned work on time and in accordance with established timelines by identifying and overcoming barriers and risks that prohibit project completion and or success in a timely manner
  • Partner with Finance to incorporate project savings into long-range financial plans and operating budgets.
  • Manage numerous tasks in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Establish strong team relationships, building trust and open communication regarding project issues and results
  • Provide expertise in successfully applying LEAN TPS process improvement methodologies and tools associated with waste identification elimination and creation of flow to yield significant improvements in operational metrics
  • Identifies Lean Process Improvement knowledge gaps of project teams, create and conduct training in Lean principles, methods, and tools, as needed, in the appropriate format for the situation
  • Utilize change management implementation techniques and tools, project management, facilitation and coaching of process improvement teams
  • Additional duties include coaching and mentoring interns, green belts, sponsors, and champions in the use of Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Travel to all Tanner sites as needed for projects.

Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
