Job Summary
The following responsibilities describe the role for a Graduate Assistant in the Multicultural Achievement Program (MAP) for the First-Year Program and Learning Community, and Goizueta Scholarship Recipients, including social and educational programs, a peer mentoring program, and community service.
Responsibilities
- 50% Assist MAP Program Coordinator in planning, implementing, and social media marketing of program and event activities for MAP First-Year Program and Learning Community, and Goizueta Scholarship Recipients (i.e., social and educational programs, peer mentoring program, and community service).
- 20% Advise and connect individual students to personal, social, academic, cultural resources. Maintain student data in EAB Campus software each semester.
- 20% Assist with recruiting, training, and performance evaluations for MAP peer mentors and other DMA activities including, but not limited to, presentations, and fall/spring semester events, and assist in training workshops for student leaders and campus partners.
- 10% Assist the MAP Coordinator with DMA’s Signature Program:
Annual Multicultural Achievement Awards and other special events.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program ase note:
Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions. - Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous student leadership experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds.
- Good attitude and pleasant demeanor.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with a variety of individuals.
- Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment.
- An appreciation for the vibrancy and benefits of our multicultural society.
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1,000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
