Job Summary

Level 1 Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA
1) will assist the supervising instructor in CS/Computing courses by delivering workshops (labs) and providing other instructional support (67%). This will include:

  • Meeting with the supervising instructor for training each week
  • Leading workshops (labs)
  • Grading assessed items for the course
  • Providing general instructional support for CS/Computing courses, including holding office hours.
  • Work in the Computing Tutoring lab

Provide other instructional support for other CS and Computing classes as needed (33%).

Required Qualifications
  • Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program dents admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
  • Must be currently enrolled in the M.S. in Applied Computer Science program as a full-time student.
  • Must be able to be on the Carrollton campus for face‑to‑face instruction, office hours, and tutoring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one semester of completed satisfactory graduate coursework in the M.S. in Applied Computer Science program or an earned college degree in Computer Science or a computing‑related field at the undergraduate level or higher.
Proposed Salary
  • Monthly stipend of $1,000.00 per month.
  • A tuition waiver, reducing your semester rate to $25 plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Must be able to stand on the feet for up to 90 minutes at a time in a CS/Computing lab.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of a classroom of students.
